1 Intro
Hello. If you are using this guide please join my E-mail club. Its a teacher hater club.
If you going to use this info on your page please email me before you use it.
2 Basics
As a Pokemon trainer, you must learn a few things, and learn
them fast. Catch pokemon, fight trainers, earn badges, SEARCH EVERYWHERE.
You will miss many good things by not talking to everyone and scanning an area only once.
3 Catching/Raising Pokemon
To catch a wild pokemon, you must battle it with one of your own. Once
its life is under about 50%, you may use a pokeball (see item list for
details) to catch it. Note: You cannot capture monsters owned by other
trainers. You may only carry 6 pokeballs with you at once, and the others
are stored in in bills P.C, retrievable from any PokeCenter. Once you have a
pokemon, you train it through battle to learn new skills and become a stronger
pokemon. At some point, most pokemon have a chance to evolve into new forms
(bulbasaur evolves into a venusaur) that are almost always better. A pokemon
can evolve 1 of 3 Through levels ,ways through an item (use a Thunder stone on a pikachu, and it turns into
a raichu), and some Pokemon only evolve when traded with a friend ( Graveler evolves Golem when traded. As
the pokemon gain levels, they get random special powers. They can also
gain powers from badges, TMs, and HMs (covered in item list, below).
1.5 Main Characters
Ash: This is the big hero of the game. Ash dreams of being the first
trainer to catch all 150 pokemon and becoming a pokemon master. You can
name him whatever you want, but in this guide, I will refer to him as his
default name, which of course, is Ash. Ash's archrival is Gary, but Team
Rocket is up on that list also.
Gary: Your archrival, you can rename Gary as well. You will meet up
with him many times, but most of the time, he's a pushover if you've been
training your pokemon well.
Team Rocket: Not many specific members, but they are out for global
domination, and you rapidly become a major thorn in their side. Watch your
back around them.
2.1 The Pokemon
(Author's note)
X. Name: Pokemon's name
Type: Type (see below)
Evolution: What and how it changes (everything in
this category is heresay right now, but according to the pics, these should
be right, when they are confirmed, the # of the evolution will appear next
to it, as well as the method on how to evolve it)
Found: Version and area(s) where it is first found,
use the 'area' command in the Pokedex to find other areas where it is available.
Powers available: What powers it can potentially
get without HM's/TM's
Notes: Anything about that Pokemon that I wanna
say...
(Author's note: Anything currently blank, I haven't discovered or verified
yet. Anything with ! marks, I just need to get my butt in gear and start
writing, also, just because there isn't a power/evolution requirement listed,
it just means I haven't discovered/gotten around it it yet, also, most
of these only reached a certain level before I evolved them, or got sick
of them. If you have more powers, and know the level recieved, I'll post
them)

2.2 Getting the Hidden Pokemon
Pikachu:
He isn't hidden just very rare, please don't e-mail
me any more about the stupid little electric rat, just fight a lot in the
Viridian Forest, you'll see one eventually.
Farfetch'd:
Trade a Sperow for it in Vermillion.
Mr. Mime:
Trade an Abra for it at the exit of the Diglett
tunnel.
Eevee:
Go in the back of the mansion in Celadon. Go up
the stairs and snag an Eevee.
Jolteon/Flareon/Vaporeon:
Use the appropriate stone on the Eevee. I have also
been told that you can get one of them later in the game in exchange for
the fossil that you snagged in Mt. Moon.
Hitmonchan/Hitmonlee:
Fight in the 'Fighting' gym in the town with Sabrina
(Marsh Badge and Sliph scope town, can't remember name, sorry). Defeat
all the trainers there, and you will be given the choice between a Hitmonlee,
and a Hitmonchan.
Zapdos:
Fight him at the very end of the Power Plant. Take
a strong rock pokemon, and wear him down as much as possible, as well as
give him paralysis, and put it to sleep if at all possible. You only get
one shot, so don't blow it.
Snorlax:
If you just sit there, it will put itself to sleep,
use this opportunity to bring it below 1/2 hp, then capture it. You have
to fight it to proceed, so it really isn't hidden.
2.4 Monster Abilities (some are from memory, tell
me if I'm wrong, and I'll finish this much later, when I finish the pokemon

Author's note: I'll be doing this in more depth later. Live with itright now!
Pallet-Viridian:
Items:
Potion
Not much happens in this sleepy burgh. Get your
pokemon and duel Gary. Gary always chooses the pokemon that is good against
yours, so win if you can, but don't sweat it if you don't. Go up through
route 1, fighting pokemon and earning levels, returning to your house if
your pokemon is hurt. Once you make it to Viridian Town, you have to find
a parcel for Prof Oak. Go back to Pallet and follow Oak's instructions,
then head back to Viridian. Fight a lot now and get a Rattata and Pidgy,
as well as going to the left of the town (towards the Pokemon League) a
little bit (dont go further than the grassy are yet) and catch a Spearow.
Once your pokemon reach about level 9, go to the Pokemon League. Gary should
challenge you, take care of him, and then go back to town and into Viridian
Forest.
Viridian Forest-Brock:
Items:
Pokeball
Potion x 2
Antidote
TM 34
BOULDERBADGE
This area is extremely easy and a great place to
earn levels. Get a lot of levels for your first pokemon here, as well as
gaining some for the others. Make sure that you catch a Pikachu here. They
are well worth the effort. You meet other trainers, but they are all (every
trainer in the game so far, excluding bosses) pushovers. Make sure that
you find the potion hidden next to the trainer that talks about the 'things
I dropped' after you beat him. Once you are in Pewter, go challenge Brock
at the gym. Depatch his two pokemon with your main one (bulbasaur's vine
whip kills each in one hit), and get his badge.
Brock-Mt. Moon:
Items:
Potion x 2
TM 12
Ether
Moon Stone
HP Up
Rare Candy
Escape Rope
Lots of trainers in this area, but a strong Spearow
should have no problems. Try to evolve your main pokemon to its next form
by now. Once you reach the first grass, find and capture a Jigglypuff,
they are well worth the effort, as that they can put things to sleep, so
they can't escape from your pokeballs. You might want to bypass the man
selling the Magikarp at the Pokecenter, as that I haven't found it to be
useful yet (I'll change later if it becomes good). Don't use plant enemies
in Mt. Moon Cave! Zubats are annoying, drain a fair amount of life from
them, but otherwise aren't too tough. Watch out for the trainer with the
clefairy, if it puts your strong monsters to sleep, it can do some serious
damage. Make certain to catch a Geodude for later and grab the ultra rare
clefairy, it is extremely useful. Whatever you do, don't miss the Moon
Stone (near last stairway down), you need it to evolve your Jigglypuff,
or Clefairy. Watch out for the Team Rocket guy with the Raticate, but he
shouldn't be a problem if you have a Spearow with Fury Attack, or your
main monster is strong enough.
Cerulean City- Vermillion
Items:
TM 04
Nugget
TM 45
TM 19
SS Ticket
Be sure to go straight east when you exit Mt. Moon
to get the TM 04. Get an Ekans or Sandshrew in the grassy area, and build
up a Pikachu (you did get one, right?) for the fight with Misty. After
recieving the Cascade Badge, go out of town and meet a squadron of Team
Rocket, as well as your rival Gary. You shouldn't have any problems here,
but you never know. Catch an Abra for its Teleport ability. You have to
just use a pokeball on them when you see them, though. They will run away
immediately if you don't catch them right off. After helping Bill, exit
and re-enter his house and check the PC for some data on the Eevee and
its evolutions. If you can't figure out the puzzle with Bill, you should
be dragged into the street and shot, plain and simple. On the way to Vermillion,
be sure to snag a Meowth or a Mankey. The Meowth can earn money for you,
and the Mankey is just a fairly good fighter.
SS Anne-Lt. Surge

TM 08

Max Potion
Great Ball
Rare Candy
HM 01
THUNDER BADGE
Bike Voucher

Moon Stone
TM 42
Old Amber
HP Up
Be very sure to snag the Bike Voucher and go get
the Bike, as well as trading for the Mr. Mime at the end of the Diglett
tunnel, and the Farfetched in Vermillion. If you have a strong grass pokemon,
get it some massive levels in the Diglett cave by using Vine Whip or Razor
Leaf on the Digletts. Watch out for the Dugtrios, though, they range in
levels from 29-31, and are quite dangerous at this point in time. You get
to fight a horde of trainers on the SS Anne, so bring a grass and/or lightning
type to fight the water ones, a rock type to fight the fire ones (there
are about 4) and some other basic types to take care of Gary after you
clean up the ship. There is another hard puzzle (sarcasm) in helping the
Captain, but you get a HM out of it. After you leave the SS Anne, head
east to fight more trainers, capture a drowzee, and get the Itemfinder
from Prof Oak's Aid. Go back to Vermillion, and take care of Surge (get
to the gym by using Cut from the HM) by using a Geodude, Sandshrew, or
any other ground type pokemon you have. If you haven't done so yet, now
would be a good time to gain your Magikarp up to level 20, and make it
into a powerful water type fighter. Before you go onto the next area, get
all your pokemon up levels in the Diglett Cave. The Digletts are wonderful
guys to get experience from, as that they are fairly weak, and they only
have one dangerous attack, Dig. Be sure to backtrack and get the last 5
items on the list by using Cut in the starting areas of the game.
Rock Tunnel-Pokemon Tower:
Items:
TM 30
Escape Rope
Elixer
Awakening
HP Up
*Sorry, my item list is hiding from me at the moment, I'll get it up
this weekend though*
Rock Tunnel is quite dangerous. Be sure to snag a
Voltorb before heading in. Bring lots of potions, a lot of water and grass
type pokemon, and pokemon that have a lot of HP, such as Wigglytuffs or
Clefables. The pokemaniacs will do some heavy damage with their psychic
attacks, and the constant battles with Zubats and rock creatures will wear
you down even more. Just be well prepared for anything and everything.
After getting to Lavender, head west to reach Celadon. Be sure to snag
a Growlithe/Vulpix on the way over. In Celadon, go on a shopping spree
for evolution stones and other good stuff. Be sure to get the Eevee, and
to give the girl at the top of the department store all three drinks. Buy
an extra bottle of water before you leave also. Head west of Celadon really
quick, and snag a Doduo, and the Fly HM. Then, head to the southwest corner
of the city and face off with Erika. Bring a fire (you did catch the Growlithe/Vulpix,
right?), a Zubat or Paras (anything with a bug attack actually), and a
psychic Pokemon, as well as any pokemon that has cut. With those first
three, you should be able to cleave through Erika's trainers and add another
badge to your jacket. Go to Game Corner, but don't waste a lot of time
there, it isn't worth it to try and win at the slot machines. Talk to the
Team Rokcet guy standing in front of the poster. Get rid of him, and push
the button under the poster. The area under Gamer Corner is long, and gets
boring, but it isn't too tough, just bring strong pokemon, and save one
or two for the showdown with Giovanni (Team Rocket's Leader) at the end.
Head back to Pokemon Tower, but first, grab a psychic pokemon to deal with
ghosts. Go on in, and fight Gary again! Dispose of him, and head on up,
catching a Cubone and Gastly along the way, as well as dealing with the
channelers. You will fight a Marowak ghost on the way up, and soon after,
you will find more members of Team Rocket. Deal with them, and rescue Mr.
Fuji. He gives you the Pokeflute, and off you go!
Saffron-Safari Zone:
Items:
*See note above*
Go through any of the guard posts by giving the guards
water, and you arrive in Saffron. First, head to the Training Dojo and
use a psychic pokemon to clean it out and take your reward of a new pokemon.
Then, head into Silph Co., as you wander around, be sure to find the employee
who gives you the Lapras, as well finding both the key to unlock all the
doors, and the area where you can rest. Experiment with the teleporters
until you find Gary. He is beginning to become annoying, but he has yet
to be truly dangerous. Polish off Gary, and continue on to fight Giovanni
again. Take him out like yesterday's garbage, and get the master ball from
the head of Silph. Leave Silph, and go to the house that was blocked earlier
in the northwest. Give the girl that copies what you say (oh boy, the Hero
talks!) a Pokedoll and she'll reward you with the Mimic TM. Head back to
the two gyms, and enter the psychic gym. Bring a grass pokemon to deal
with the Slowpokes and Slowbros, but don't use it against the actual psychic
pokemon. This is a rough gym, and Sabrina isn't easy to beat. You might
need several tries to clear it out, as that there are few things that take
little damage from psychic attacks. Get the Marsh Badge, and return to
Lavender. Go south of Lavender, fighting fishermen along the way. Use the
Pokeflute to wake the Snorlax, and catch it afterwards. Continue south
and be sure to grab the super rod from the fishing master's brother, and
go catch a Tentacool, Goldeen, and Krabby right outside his house. You
can also return to Pallet and catch a Poliwag if you want. Continue south,
and then west, fighting Bird Catchers, and Beauties and other trainers.
You will soon reach Fuschia, and the Safari Zone, I'll pick up there when
next I take pen to paper...
4.1 Bosses
Gary (1st):
Lvl5 Starting Pokemon (the
type that yours is weak against)
Not too hard, just slug it out and you should win, but if his pokemon attacks
you instead of growling or tail whipping constantly, you've got a tough
fight.
Gary (2nd):
Lvl9 Pidgy
Lvl9 Starting Pokemon
Too easy, especially if you have a high level Rattata, Pidgy, and/or Spearow.
Only thing to watch out for is his Pidgy getting rid of your Pokemon's
accuracy, and if you want to use your original Pokemon against his original,
be extremely careful of its new attack if he has a Charmander of Squirtle,
it may be able to kill your Pokemon in one hit.
Brock:
Lvl12 Geodude
Lvl14 Onix
This guy is also easy if you have your main pokemon on a fairly high level.
If you don't, then avoid using the air pokemon and use Rattata, or a bug
that you caught in Viridian Forest. Don't even let a Pikachu attack though,
they will do absoluetely zero damage unless it is strong enough to have
a non-lightning attack. Shouldn't be too hard of a fight. If you have Squirtle
with Bubbles, or Bulbasaur with Vine Whip, Brock will be a piece of cake.
Misty
Lvl18 Staryu
Lvl20 Starmie
Misty is kind of rough, but a high level Pikachu (about 20) shouldn't have
any problems with her. Sorry, I forgot to write down the Pokemon levels,
I'll find them out later. The Starmie could be a problem, though, because
it uses Tackle continously, and Misty will use an X Defend on it. Other
than that, just use your Pikachu and kick her tail to get the Cascade Badge.
Gary (3rd)
Lvl 18 Pidgeotto
Lvl 15 Abra
Lvl 15 Rattata
Lvl 15 Starting Pokemon
(class 2)
Other than the Pidgeotto, this is just a plain Gary battle. This one is
even simpler than most, because you fight him when you first try to go
to another area, so all your pokemon should be at full life.
Gary (4th)
Lvl 19 Pidgeotto
Lvl 16 Raticate
Lvl 18 Kadabra
Lvl 20 Starting Pokemon
(class 2)
You may wish to fight this Gary before the other trainers on the SS Anne.
He shouldn't be too tough, though. Use a Pikachu to slaughter the Pidgeotto,
and your own Raticate against his. Against the Kadabra, use something strong
with Quick Attack, and use whatever you have that is good against his final
monster.
Lt. Surge
Lvl 21 Voltorb
Lvl 18 Pikachu
Lvl 24 Raichu
Use a Geodude here and you will have no problems at all. The Geodude will
not be affected by any of his thunder attacks, and you will cruise right
through Surge with no problem whatsoever.
Aiee! My notes were eaten by rapid wombats, fear not, we
are on expedition to Malaysia to track them down and recover the notes,
when I find them, I'll finish this list!
4.2 Other Trainers
Youngster:
Generally has very weak,
1st class creatures, such as Pidgeys and Rattata. These guys are what you
fight near the start and shouldn't be too dangerous.
Lass:
Female version of youngster.
They tend to steer more towards using visually pleasing pokemon (Clefairy,
Jigglypuff) than Rattatas and other ugly pokemon. They usually only have
2-4 creatures, most of the time, the creatures are all the same.
Bug Catcher:
These guys are a joke. They
use Caterpies, Weedles, and the evolutions of each. Just either use psychics
on them, or use a Spearow's peck attack.
Jr. Trainer (Male):
You fight
these guys throughout the game. In gyms, they have whatever the gym leader
has, otherwise, they are fairly random.
Jr. Trainer (Female):
Exactly the same as the
male Jr. Trainers.
Fisherman:
These guys ALWAYS use water
pokemon, and are more inclined to use pokemon that can be caught with a
rod than just a random water pokemon. They shouldn't be difficult if you
are packing a Pickachu.
Sailor:
You only fight these guys
on the SS Anne. Almost the same as fishermen, but they tend to use more
random water pokemon, such as Staryus, instead of just fish pokemon.
Super Nerd:
These guys thrive on posionous
pokemon that you would expect to find in a toxic waste dump. Don't take
these guys too lightly, because they can be quite dangerous.
Hiker:
Hikers always have pokemon
that can be found in caves, mostly centering around Geodudes and Onixes.
Another reason to always have a grass pokemon in your party.
Rocket:
Ugh. These guys tend to
only have a couple pokemon, but they are on average, stronger pokemon than
other trainer's monsters. Watch out for these guys, and avoid them if your
pokemon are almost dead.
Engineer:
Electric pokemon love these
guys. Pack a Geodude if you know you will be fighting them, and they should
be easy. Without a rock pokemon, it is an uphill fight.
Channeler:
Ghosts are never too difficult,
and these guys just prove it. Take them out like yesterday's garbage.
Pokemaniac:
Double Ugh. These guys love
psychic type pokemon and until you get a ghost, they can wear you down
FAST. Be careful of large numbers of them, especially in Rock Tunnel.
Gambler:
These guys usually have
elemental pokemon, mostly fire, but they will have other types as well.
If you have a well rounded mix of pokemon, they shouldn't be a problem.
Scientist:
These guys are in Silph
Co. They tend to use a lot of toxic waste Pokemon (Grimers, Muks, Koffings...),
as well as a fair amount of electric pokemon.
Beauty:
These guys basically are
the exact same as lasses, except with higher level Pokemon (duh) and evolved
ones.
Bird Catchers:
These guys are a snap if
have electric attacks. The only time to worry about them is if you only
have bug pokemon, but then again, if that's all that you have, you aren't
going to be a pokemon master any time soon.
Biker:
Glorified scientists, they
tend to use almost all Toxic waste Pokémon.
Cool Trainer (female):
A stronger Jr. Trainer,
with evolved pokemon, not too difficult if you plan ahead.
Psychics:
These guys have psychic
pokemon. Trounce them by using by using something with a lot of hp, that
also has Bide (Wigglytuff), or just use a fast, very powerful monster to
kill them before they can deploy their psioncs on you. Just be sure to
not use plants or ghosts against them unless the ghosts will go first.
Black Belts:
They lost gym status to
the psychics, so follow suit. Just use an Alakazam or Mr. Mime to cut through
these guys like a Charizard through a Metapod.
Cueball:
More fighting type Pokémon.
Just another reason to always take an Alakazam or something similar with
you.
